    n May 10, 2022, the Twentynine Palms City Council voted to update ordinances related to vacation home rentals (VHRs), limiting the number of licenses and enacting stricter regulations and disciplinary measures. The decision to update the City's code follows months of public consideration and community input via public hearings hosted by the City's Planning Commission and an independent Ad Hoc Committee. The City adopted a 500 single-family home cap on the number licensed VHRs. The City has 5,833 houses (2020 US Census Bureau). The cap will adjust accordingly with updated Census data every 10 years. VHR permits will now only remain active if they are rented for at least one day a year, ensuring that only compliant VHRs may be licensed.
